Was the lord of the dead and in charge of watching the space where they rested. More importantly, he kept balance between the forces of the day (order and the world of the living) and the forces of the night (chaos and the world of the dead). He is associated with bats. Opiyelguabirán served as a guardian who kept the living and the dead where they belonged.
